Native to the Czech Republic, Sharka moved to Australia in 2002 following the vision of it’s never ending horizon. Graduating with a Masters degree in Creative Industries, previously completing degree in fashion design at the University of Liberec and Masters in theatre set and costume design from the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Sharka Bosakova’s self-titled label explores the freedom of movement, consciously shaped garments that are both comfortable and elegant. Far from driven by trends, the collections are suffused with artistic touches inspired by nature, focusing on quality material, design and production of sophisticated relaxed luxury for contemporary women.
Sharka’s work received exposure at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival in Australia. Her ‘Shadows Of Your Garden’ collection was a finalist in Melbourne’s 2011 Fashion Exposed DEBUT. Melody of shapes – Assonance spring/summer 2014 – is a collection in collaboration with Polish/ Australian photographic artist Renata Buziak and master printer Jacek Rybinski. Renata’s selected work was applied by hand screen printing technique on silks and jerseys. Main theme is deriving inspiration from duality, the cycle of renewal and decay.
